The influence of water on muscle strength

How does water influence muscle mass?

Did you know that losing only 1.5% of water leads to decrease in muscle strength and weakening in physical performances?

The cause of that is shrinking of cells, which causes further protein degradation. If muscles are well hydrated, conditions for creating new muscle tissue are made. Good hydration supplies the muscles with nutrients faster and removes harmful metabolites, and also blood supply and oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange are increased. Proper exercising and rest are very important for muscle growth. Therefore, consume water before, during and after exercising to prevent unwanted consequences of dehydration!
